Two Calls For Manuscripts

In subsequent issues of Gestalt! two important themes will be addressed - spirituality and ethics. Each will receive its own edition, and each will have its own special co-editor. The following two calls for manuscripts describe in more detail these two issues and provide interested authors a place to begin in the process of publishing.

First Specific Call for Manuscripts: Spirituality

I am happy to announce a special issue of Gestalt!, which will be in collaboration with Behavior Online (http://www.behavior.net). The Special Co-Editor on this project is Brian O'Neill, leader of the Gestalt Forum at Behavior Online and Director of the Illawarra Gestalt Institute. Responses to the following call for manuscripts can be sent to Brian (boneill@uow.edu.au) and/or Philip Brownell (pbrownell@g-g.org).

Call for manuscripts:
Gestalt!, ejournal for Gestalt Therapy, will be producing a special issue devoted to spirituality in Gestalt Therapy. Appropriate manuscripts would discuss various spiritual traditions, philosophies, theologies, and practices in clinical psychology, especially from a Gestalt theoretical perspective, or they might discuss the way spirituality is a dynamic in the development and practice of Gestalt therapy . They might profile a program in which spirituality has a main platform. They might share poetry. They might applaud an individual, sharing the ways in which that Gestalt practitioner manifests spiritual values and understanding. Student papers are encouraged, and student projects will find editorial support. Those interested in contributing to this issue are encouraged to contact either Brian O'Neill or Philip Brownell to explore the possibilities.

Second Specific Call For Manuscripts: Ethics

I am happy to announce a special issue of Gestalt! focused on the subject of ethics. The Special Co-Editor on this project is Peter Philippson, Co-Director of the Manchester Gestalt Institute. Responses to the following call for manuscripts can be sent to Peter (Peter@mgc.org.uk) and/or Philip Brownell (pbrownell@g-g.org).

Call for manuscripts:
Gestalt!, ejournal for Gestalt Therapy, will be producing a special issue devoted to ethics in Gestalt Therapy. Appropriate manuscripts might discuss ethical standards for practice, the values that stand behind such standards, how ethical codes are formulated, the means for deciding communal ethical statements, or the impact such statements have upon the practice of Gestalt therapy. They might contrast statements of ethics based upon Gestalt theory with those of other professional psychological and psychotherapy organizations. They might share poetry. They might applaud an individual, sharing the ways in which that Gestalt practitioner exemplifies strong ethical values. Student papers are encouraged, and student projects will find editorial support. Those interested in contributing to this issue are encouraged to contact either Peter Philippson or Philip Brownell to explore the possibilities.

Editorial Guidelines & Reminders

  • Gestalt! is a reviewed journal, which means that manuscripts will be examined by those outside of the co-editors, for input and suggestions regarding appropriateness for publication.
  • Interested authors are encouraged to consult the masthead of Gestalt! to find more extensive guidelines, mission, and other information relevant to the journal; it can be found at http://www.g-g.org/gej/masthead.
  • Length for feature articles should be about 2-3000 words (this is a rough figure; authors should query the editors with proposals and develop specifics in concert with them) and should include a short abstract summarizing the content (about 2-300 words). A set of key words that orient potential readers to content should also be included.
  • Gestalt! is published cross culturally, with bi-lingual capacity in collaboration with Fugura/Fondo (Mexico), Cahiers de Gestalt-thérapie (France), The Australian Gestalt Journal (Australia), and The Nordic Gestalt Journal (Sweden).
  • The publishing process is made more rapid by the fact that all manuscripts, review processes, editing, and final publication are accomplished in electronic text.
