Call For Papers

We invite all those interested in Gestalt psychology and psychotherapy, including those at work applying Gestalt principles to such fields as organizational development and performance, to submit a discussion of their work, a reflection on their practice, a first-person account, an interview, a piece of investigative reporting, or a theoretical article. We also encourage authors from other clinical orientations to submit dialogical articles in counterpoint to some aspect of Gestalt theory, practice, or application to a collateral field. In addition, we invite satirists to poke fun, and we accept cartoons as well as prose and verse.

Author Guidelines

We accept only electronic manuscripts. Specific instructions for submitting will be supplied following contact and dialogue with our editorial staff. Please query first, describing what you have in mind in a brief paragraph (100-250 words), imbed that paragraph within an email post, and address your query to Philip Brownell (phil@g-gej.org). Please identify yourself as well, telling what qualifies you to write what you propose. In the case of those invited by Gestalt! staff to submit a piece for publication, please discuss with your editor our specific needs. In general, feature articles should be between 2-3000 words, but may vary according to need; they should include an abstract (between 2-300 words) summarizing the content and a set of key words used to orient potential readers.

Cartoons, and other graphics not flexible to being sent via electronic methods, can be forwarded, snailmail, to (include stamped, self-addressed envelope for return; otherwise, what you send becomes our possession):

Editorial Policies

All manuscripts are reviewed and subject to editorial reshaping. The editorial staff make decisions on what will and will not be included in any given issue, or even how much of an existing article will be included. We confer with authors to negotiate changes.

There is no payment here. However, authors retain copyright and the ability to republish elsewhere.
